9 Day Draa Tafilalet Tour

We will travel to Rissani after breakfast. We will walk through what is known as Morocco’s most authentic and traditional souk, as well as the largest in the country’s south, where all types of handicrafts, food, and animals are traded.

After lunch, we will visit ancient ruins and architectural structures such as Sijilmassa, Ksar El Fida, Ksar Oulad Abdelhalim, and Mezguida.

We’ll leave for Agdaz after breakfast. We’ll stop in Gara Medouar, where many films have been shot, before continuing on to Nkob, the village of 45 kasbahs. It is the only village in Morocco with more than forty kasbahs. The old part of the village still has many old impressive kasbahs built in mud in front of the oasis and the Jbel (mountain) Saghro, and it is also known as the henna capital. After that, we’ll travel to Agdaz. A charming kasbah serves as lodging.

After breakfast, we’ll travel to Ksar Tamnougalt. Ksar Tamnougalt, the former capital of the Mezguita tribe, is one of the oldest ksours still in good condition in the Draa Valley. Ksar Tamnougalt, founded more than three centuries ago by a family of Cads who represented the sultan in the area, occupied a strategic position. After that, we’ll travel to Taznakht. It is a major carpet weaving center that uses wool from the sheep breeding of Siroua. For centuries, the Ouaouzguite carpet (now widely known as “Taznakht carpet”) was the tribes’ primary practice and financial resource.

On Day 5 of the 9 day Draa Tafilalet Tour, the journey will take you from Ait Ben Haddou to Ouarzazat.

Our day will begin with a trip to Ait Ben Haddou, a stunning fortified village that has served as a setting for numerous Hollywood productions and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The village’s history and unique architecture can be discovered as you wander its narrow streets. Some of the locations have appeared in popular films like “Gladiator” and “Game of Thrones,” so you may be familiar with them.

Tour participants will then travel to Ouarzazat, Morocco’s “door to the desert” and a popular location for filming in the country, following their time in Ait Ben Haddou. Beautiful vistas of the surrounding mountains and valleys can be seen from much of the route.

On day six of the nine-day Draa Tafilalet Tour, you’ll get to spend some time in the city of Ouarzazat.

The first stop of the day will be the stunning Oasis of Fint, a short drive from Ouarzazat. You’ll get to see the beautiful palm groves and visit the traditional Berber villages, where you can immerse yourself in the culture and lifestyle of the people who live there.

The tour will return to Ouarzazat after visiting the Oasis of Fint so that you can spend some time there at your leisure. The Atlas Film Studio, which documents the development of cinema in Morocco, is just one of the many museums and galleries you can explore during your stay.

The nearby Kasbah Amerhidil is a beautiful palace from the 17th century and is widely regarded as one of the most attractive in all of North Africa. There are palm trees and exotic plants in the palace’s beautiful garden, which is decorated with colorful tiles and intricate carvings.

In the afternoon, explore the city’s bustling souk, where you can buy authentic spices, traditional handicrafts, and other regional specialties. In addition, the city is home to numerous restaurants serving authentic Moroccan fare such as tagines, couscous, and other delectable dishes.

We will leave Ouarzazat on Day 7 of the 9-day Draa Tafilalet Tour and travel to the Dades Gorges, a breathtaking natural wonder located in the High Atlas Mountains.

We’ll pass through the Skoura Oasis, an expansive palm grove that is home to many traditional Berber villages, on our way to the gorges. We’ll be able to visit some of these villages and learn about the local way of life, as well as the stunning Kasbah Amridil, a well-preserved fortress dating back to the 17th century.

Then, on our way to the Dades Gorges, we’ll pass through the Valley of Roses, which is famous for its beautiful rose gardens and the production of rose water and other rose-based products. You may be able to see the roses in full bloom and learn about the local traditions surrounding their cultivation depending on the season.

We’ll be treated to stunning views of the surrounding mountains and canyons, with their towering cliffs and deep ravines, as we approach the Dades Gorges. We’ll take a scenic drive through the gorges, stopping at various points to take in the scenery and explore the surrounding landscapes.

We’ll arrive at our Dades Gorges accommodation in the evening, where we’ll enjoy a delicious dinner and relax in the peaceful and serene surroundings. On Day 8 of the 9 day Draa Tafilalet Tour, get ready for an exciting adventure as we leave the tranquil Dades Gorges and head towards the town of Tinghir, known for its lush palm groves and stunning Berber architecture.

We’ll begin our day with a thrilling hike through the Todgha Gorges, a natural wonder with towering cliffs and rugged terrain that draws in hikers and rock climbers from around the world. The canyon offers a challenging but rewarding hiking experience, with stunning views of the rock formations and natural scenery.

After our exhilarating hike, we’ll travel to the town of Errachidia, located in the stunning Ziz Valley, one of the largest oases in Morocco. Along the way, we’ll stop at various viewpoints to take in the breathtaking panoramic views of the valley and surrounding desert landscape.

Our journey will take us to the impressive Hassan Addakhil dam, an engineering marvel that provides irrigation for the surrounding farmland and has become a popular attraction in the area. We’ll take a thrilling 4×4 desert safari through the valley, exploring the rugged terrain and discovering the local way of life.

We’ll also have the chance to interact with the locals and learn about their traditional customs and way of life, getting a taste of the rich cultural heritage that is unique to this region.
